II Architects int was established in 2002 as an urban design, architecture, interior architecture and consulting company by two partners.
Before launching their own architecture firm, Barış Çokcan and Sigrid Brell-Çokcan were working on international projects with world-famous architects such as Frank Gehry, Coop Himmelblau, Peter Cook on projects as MARTA Herford, BMW Worls Munich or Kunsthaus Graz.
II Architects int was first founded in May 2002 in Istanbul, joining the Chamber of Architects in Istanbul, UIA-section Turkey „Yüksek Mimar“.From 2003-2005 ll Architects int was operating business in their headquarters, situated in Vienna.
They are members of the Austrian Chamber of Architects and Engineer Consulants and certified civil engineers. Realized projects are low energy residential housing “Gattringerstrasse” and individual passive houses such as the project “ a photographer´s house” in Vienna and various competition entries such as the modification of the technical school Saalfelden.
In 2005 II Architects int moved their headquarters to Istanbul and renamed in II A Mimarlik (II A Uluslararası Mimari Tasarım Yapı Uygulama ve Danışmanlık Ltd. Şti.). Running projects since 2006 are Turgutreis Modern Urban Development Project- comprising a Shopping Mall, the Mayors Building and Cultural Centre, Turgutreis Bus Station of a Total of approximately 29.300 m² and Armonia Sea & Spa Hotel with 18.000 m² at one of the most picturesque coastlines of the Turkish Riviera with the highest earthquake prone zone Nr1.
These projects were highly recognized by Turkish and European press. II A Mimarlik further won several Design Prizes.
Current low energy projects and integrated building design approaches with self sufficient concepts are a 5Star hotel for Aspat in Turgutreis and Düzce Teknopark http://duetek.2architects-int.net with an active strategy for energy efficiency not only in energy consumption but energy generation for the adjacent Campus buildings of Düzce University.
II Architects int has a rich international background in cutting edge design and technology development such as parametric design, robotic and CNC-fabrication, architectural geometry and new material Technologies.
